Pender EMS & Rescue, Inc. covers nearly 900 square miles and more than forty thousand year round residents. The population increases another thirty thousand between Memorial Day and Labor Day, with the bulk of that growth in the Eastern coastal area of the county.

This challenge is met with 7 transporting ambulances & 1 QRV (in Maple Hill). Staffing of the units, any time of the day or night, is done with 7 Paramedics, 6 Basic / Intermediates, 2 Lieutenants, & 1Shift Supervisor  that man these units 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Emergency Medical Services are provided by crews consisting of one EMT– Paramedic and one EMT- Intermediate or Basic working 24 hour shifts, stationed throughout the county. Pender EMS prides itself in “growing” care providers from within the system, and regularly taps the ranks of the volunteer and/or part-time staff when full-time positions become available.
